Prey animals hide illness
Hedgehogs, gliders, rodents and birds are wired to look fine until they are very sick. Weight loss is often the first sign you can measure.
The 10% rule
A drop of about 10% from an animal's usual weight is worth a call to an exotics vet, even if they seem normal. Smaller steady drops over several weeks matter too.
Make it easy
Weigh on the same day, at the same time, before food. Use grams for small animals. Log it in the weight tracker and it flags drops for you.
Nothing here replaces advice from an exotics vet.
